Clipped wings – TB

13 Dec

Birds born in cages think
Flying is an illness.
Kept in their cages,
at the end of their tether.
Plucking all of their feathers.
Up and down, up and down
The same perch,
Sidestepping and switch-sidling.
They awaken to feed, to drink
And to go up and down.
Repeat, up and down.
And yet you keep them there
Because they can’t live without you,
Because they love you so much.

You brought two piece of writing back to my mind:

    Orhan Veli’s. http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/free-146/
    My own. http://anexerciseonexisting.blogspot.com.br/2014/05/the-touch-of-dust.html
    Orhan Veli’s.

What is freedom, babe? I wonder.

    Kiss you Mr. Crayfish.

Yes, it’s me again. 🙂 Because you don’t mind me being random.

Still on freedom, which was one of the things you got me thinking of, have you ever watched ‘Requiem for a dream’?

And have you read Julian Assange’s book Cypherpunks?

    A photo series I adore. http://www.antoinebruy.com/index.php?/projects/scrublan

    A short video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nuPQldFfBZc

Emma Orbach, by Timothy Allen. http://humanplanet.com/timothyallen/2013/11/off-the-grid-emma-orbach-wales/

    A movie. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QrGvhwwWP8Q

    A short movie http://shortsbay.com/film/shaking-tokyo

Now, back to the main topic of the poem, which is not really freedom, is it? As I see it, this poem is more about symbiosis, vanity and selfishness – the three pillars of many relationships in our society.

Such a sad poem and yet many live this way. What a poor love. What a poverty of need. (Wonderful work here)

I can relate this poem to my mother’s boyfriend’s brother in many ways. His family treats him like a young pup although he is 24 or 25 years of age. He often wants to do something for himself, but his family just end up making him lame. He gets told he can’t do anything and it would be too hard for him, but my mother and I know that he could do whatever he put his mind to. If only he would be let out from his cage. 🙂
