Without reason – TB

4 Mar

Loaded like a gun,
He is, with his facts and his figures.
A magazine of dates
He reels off from the barrel of his gun.
His mouth chatters
As he quickly recalls the Napoleonic Wars,
The battle of Wissembourg
And who can forget the haunting
Battle of Tsushim?
He barrages his peers
With bunker busting detail,
Driving them into the ground,
Without reason.

As previously discussed, it is not easy for us as educators to deal with stubborn, narrow-minded people who are happy to learn concepts, facts and dates from books but unwilling to critically discuss them. This is a great poem.

Excellent facet to this fact-giving character…well written piece.

Jung said, the bigger the front, the bigger the back. Such an artillery of facts can hide a greater lack of knowledge. And sometimes people drive us away trying too earnestly to prove the are acceptable. Nicely written.

By massive amount of fact you can kill all discussions – but at least it’s based on facts and not guesses
